1985 – What a year it was!
For those of us old enough to remember, but can’t, here’s a few refreshers for you to think back on…
Ronald Reagan was our President
(Oh how I wish he still were!)
A gallon of gas cost $1.09! (and we thought we were paying too much THEN)
Movie Tickets were $2.75! (movies were worth paying for at that price!)
The average price of a new car was $9,900 (I couldn’t afford new, mine was a ’69 Dodge Dart)
A postage stamp cost .22
(no comment)
VH-1 made it’s debut in 1985 (This was HUGE!)
The Internet Domain Name System was created (Didn’t even know what the word internet meant!)
The songs “Born in the USA”, “Smuggler’s Blues” and “Like a Virgin” were topping the charts (I still like 2 out of 3 of them)
The TV shows “MacGyver”, “Golden Girls” and “Moon Lighting” were starting up (Again…. 2 out of 3 ain’t bad!)
Coke came out with it’s doomed “New Coke” formula (Good Call!)
Hulk Hogan and Mr. T teamed up for Wrestlemania (I pitty… nevermind)
Michael Jordan is named “NBA Rookie of the Year” (BOOM!)
We Are the World by USA for Africa hit the charts (Good cause I guess)
The Unabomber was at large (Glad they finally got that son-of-a-GUN)
The very first Farm Aid concert took place in 1985 (I wonder if Willie was high?)
The Film “Back to the Future” came out! (my daughter’s favorite!)
John Gotti assumed the role of Head of the Crime Syndicate (no comment – for safety’s sake)
Mikhail Gorbachev becomes the Soviet Leader
(not sure I spelled that right?)
Mike Tyson wins his 1st Professional Fight (ear biter)
Perhaps the most influential and important event of 1985, I dare say, is…….. The incorporation of West Coast FL Enterprises, Inc.!
